JB Marine Springfield has been part of the Springfield area soccer community for 5 years. We operate independently from the club in St. Louis but the focus is the same - A girls-only club that utilizes female coaching staff whenever possible to lead the teams. The staff for the 2008-2009 will include former Drury Panther players and members of the Drury coaching staff , as well as current and former area high school players.

At JB Marine Springfield, we provide a positive environment for girls who want to train and play soccer at a competitive level. The younger teams focus on skill development and fostering true passion for the sport. The older girls work on advancing their knowledge and ability to ensure they have what they personally need to take their game to the collegiate level.

J.B. Marine Soccer Club has given my daughter a great place to grow & learn both on & off the soccer field for the last five years. The club utilizes great local facilities and an even better coaching staff. Without a high school team, my daughter is relying on her club experiences to equip her for college soccer & beyond.

College recruiting is supported by exposure to numerous college coaches via multiple college showcase tournaments in the late fall and early spring. The 92/93 girls participated in 8 tournaments last season, 5 of them College Showcases. The Club has graduated numerous ladies who moved on to extend their career at the collegiate level and others have chosen to move to the sideline and begin coaching careers.

JB Marine Springfield will continue to develop its current teams and provide the opportunities needed to play soccer in a top competitive environment. We believe that players should not have to set their youth activities and families aside to be successful, but players need to make a commitment to an environment that will support them and help them develop as a strong player and well a rounded person. We concentrate on reducing the overall costs of Club play through optional travel at the high school level and friendly scrimmages, rather than league play that doesn’t meet the goals of the Club. We hope that you will give us the opportunity to share the JB Marine opportunity with you and your daughter.

JB Marine 92 Girls Complete Busy Fall Season

The JB Marine-Springfield 92 Girls have completed their 2007-08 season. Playing only in tournaments, their record for the season was 12-6-5 with two losses coming in OT and 8 of the 11 ties/losses against teams in the top 5 of their respective states. The core of the U16 team included six members of the original JB Marine 92 team formed five years ago, two added the following year and two added this year plus five members of the disbanded JB Marine-Springfield 93 competitive team.

The team, coached by head coach Lindsay Paulsell and assistant coach Mike Gunnels, competed in nine competitive tournaments in five states (MO, OK, TN, TX and AK) from August 2007 through February 2008 including one college showcase tournament in each of the five states.

Highlights included:

* Finishing 2nd in a tough overtime battle in the final of in the Missouri Girls Invitational Tournament in St. Louis in September
* Finishing 3-0 in the MC United College Showcase in St. Louis in November, the only U16 team to go undefeated
* Played in the U18/19 bracket of the Lake Country Fall Classic, going 1-1-1
* All games played in the last four tournaments of the season, those being the most competitive, ended in either a 1-0 win, 0-1 loss or a 1-1/0-0 tie
* Tying the 2007 Tennessee State Champions (GSC Fury 92 Premier) in the Fury Challenge College Showcase in February

Other Accomplishments:

Members of JB Marine Springfield 92 girls competed in 3v3 tournaments over the summer capping the season with a 2nd place finish at Regionals. The team is currently ranked ninth in the nation in their age bracket . . . and defeated the team that finished fourth in the national championships in Orlando in January.

The JB Marine 92 team also just finished their indoor season at Lake Country. The team went undefeated (4-0) in the High School Girls A bracket scoring 42 goals and only giving up 5 in a season cut short by winter weather.

The JB Marine 92 girls are focused on gaining local, state and regional recognition for their competitive play and continue to work towards their future in soccer whether it is success in high school or success beyond in college. Each player steps on the field each day with the team motto in their hearts and minds: Coming together is the beginning, Staying together is progress, Working together is success!

Update on the 92’s and their respective spring seasons

The 92 girls have been busy this spring…..

Elle is running Varsity Track at Republic - she’s also involved in some school plays; Alysan is playing goalie for the Over 30 JB Mamas indoor team and has also played with Tulsa Soccer Club some - they went to Memphis for a tournament and won 1st place; Hilary is starting Varsity at Kickapoo, in a ‘new’ position for her, playing defender and doing amazing!; Sydney Ganus, after making the Varsity team at Pershing MS, she was diagnosed with mono, and thought to be out all year but a follow-up visit with the doctor cleared her to play and she’s enjoying her 8th grade year on varsity; Megan Gunnels and Megan Jenish are both playing Varsity at Ozark, playing about 100% of the time in all the games!; Rachel is a Swing player at Catholic, meaning she plays both JV and Varsity (Catholic is doing remarkably well! I hear Rachel is doing awesome too!); Ashley is a Swing player at Glendale, playing both JV and Varisty, and has been a scoring machine on the JV team,; Stephanie is on the tennis team (mostly boys) at New Covenant - she also had the chance to play with Sheffield Soccer in a Tulsa tournament in which they came in 1st place!; Sydney Owens unfortunately injured her ankle the DAY she was released from doctor with her wrist, however, she’s recovering and plays JV at Catholic and some Varsity; Emelie is also a swing player at Glendale, playing defense for the varsity and scoring on the JV team; Lauryn is starting JV sweeper and was just ‘promoted’ to swing with a varsity jersey!

Newest Teams to the JB Family

“For Fun and Fitness” is the motto of two new JB teams formed this spring. The JB Mommas team (participating in the 030 women’s league) and the JB 030 MEN’s team (participating in the 030 men’s league) were formed to give JB parent’s an opportunity to step on the field and enjoy the sport we all love. The current players on the 030 teams include at least one representative of each of our JB girl’s teams. The 030 teams are having a great time. The fun and fitness and friendships are creating memories that will last for a long time . . . and so are the post game festivities at McSalty’s Pizza following each Friday night game.

We’re hoping to have enough interest to play year-round (even if it is just friendly scrimmages at the park on Sunday afternoons). And we’re always looking for new recruits to come join in the fun. So if you are interested, please get in touch with Lindsay Paulsell or Mike Gunnels for more information.
