JB Marine 92 Girls Complete Busy Fall Season
The JB Marine-Springfield 92 Girls have completed their 2007-08 season. Playing only in tournaments, their record for the season was 12-6-5 with two losses coming in OT and 8 of the 11 ties/losses against teams in the top 5 of their respective states. The core of the U16 team included six members of the original JB Marine 92 team formed five years ago, two added the following year and two added this year plus five members of the disbanded JB Marine-Springfield 93 competitive team.
The team, coached by head coach Lindsay Paulsell and assistant coach Mike Gunnels, competed in nine competitive tournaments in five states (MO, OK, TN, TX and AK) from August 2007 through February 2008 including one college showcase tournament in each of the five states.
Highlights included:
* Finishing 2nd in a tough overtime battle in the final of in the Missouri Girls Invitational Tournament in St. Louis in September
* Finishing 3-0 in the MC United College Showcase in St. Louis in November, the only U16 team to go undefeated
* Played in the U18/19 bracket of the Lake Country Fall Classic, going 1-1-1
* All games played in the last four tournaments of the season, those being the most competitive, ended in either a 1-0 win, 0-1 loss or a 1-1/0-0 tie
* Tying the 2007 Tennessee State Champions (GSC Fury 92 Premier) in the Fury Challenge College Showcase in February
Other Accomplishments:
Members of JB Marine Springfield 92 girls competed in 3v3 tournaments over the summer capping the season with a 2nd place finish at Regionals. The team is currently ranked ninth in the nation in their age bracket . . . and defeated the team that finished fourth in the national championships in Orlando in January.
The JB Marine 92 team also just finished their indoor season at Lake Country. The team went undefeated (4-0) in the High School Girls A bracket scoring 42 goals and only giving up 5 in a season cut short by winter weather.
The JB Marine 92 girls are focused on gaining local, state and regional recognition for their competitive play and continue to work towards their future in soccer whether it is success in high school or success beyond in college. Each player steps on the field each day with the team motto in their hearts and minds: Coming together is the beginning, Staying together is progress, Working together is success!
